Presidential elections in Ukraine

Chairman of the Central Election Commission Volodymyr Shapoval said on Monday at a briefing press that “Presidential elections in Ukraine took place at an appropriate level “.

CEC has estimated 80,27% of protocols in the presidential election. According to preliminary data, the leader of the opposition Party of Regions Viktor Yanukovych gained 35.76% of the vote, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko – 24,72%.
To win in the first round a candidate must win 50% of the votes.  Thus, the required second round of elections. Anyway, as things currently present, are projected tandem Yanukovych – Tymoshenko to lead Ukraine.

In third place is former National Bank head Sergei Tigipko with 13,05% of votes. In the fourth place of ex-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Arseniy Yatsenyuk – 6,96%, and the current President Viktor Yushchenko gets a little more than five percent of the vote – 5,33%.
